Rupee rises 3 paise to close at 85.69 against US dollar

Mumbai, Mar 26 (PTI) The rupee pared its initial losses and settled for the day higher by 3 paise at 85.69 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday, supported by a resurgence of foreign fund inflows. Forex dealers said the rupee faces renewed pressure on liquidity constraints, concerns over reciprocal tariff implementations and month-end demand for the U.S. currency from importers. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 85.71 then touched an intraday high of 85.68 and a low of 85.98 against the greenback. New Delhi, Mar 26 (PTI) Cutting short the four-day losing streak, gold prices rebounded by Rs 235 to Rs 90,685 per 10 grams on Wednesday amid firm global trends, according to the All India Sarafa Association. On Tuesday, the yellow metal of 99.9 per cent purity had ended at Rs 90,450 per 10 grams. Gold of 99.5 per cent purity rose by Rs 235 to Rs 90,235 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 90,000 per 10 grams. New Delhi, Mar 26 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea for a CBI probe into an alleged “honey-trap” attempt involving a minister and other politicians in Karnataka. A three-judge bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta dismissed the PIL filed by social activist Binay Kumar Singh. The plea had also sought the probe to be either monitored by the top court or by a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
