Mumbai, Jun 13 (PTI) The rupee plummeted 55 paise to 86.07 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday due to a spike in global oil prices and a firm dollar amid rising tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear sites. Gold rallies Rs 2,200 to Rs 1.01 lakh/10 g as tensions in Middle East escalate

New Delhi, Jun 13 (PTI) Rising for the third consecutive day, gold prices on Friday surged Rs 2,200 to trade near a record high of Rs 1,01,540 per 10 grams in the national capital amid heightened tensions following Israel’s military strike on Iran, which drove investors to the safe-haven asset. According to the All India Sarafa Association, the precious metal of 99.5 per cent purity rallied by Rs 1,900 to Rs 1,00,700 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes). On April 22, the yellow metal had climbed Rs 1,800 to hit a lifetime high of Rs 1,01,600 per 10 grams.

Investigators search the Air India crash site for clues to the cause and more potential victims
