Mumbai, Sep 9 (PTI) Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled in early trade on Wednesday as escalating tensions in West Asia pushed crude oil to near USD 100-per-barrel mark. Selling in IT stocks and fresh foreign fund outflows also dented investors’ sentiment. The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 500.25 points to 75,060.61 in early trade. Mumbai, Sep 9 (PTI) The rupee depreciated 21 paise to 94.95 against US dollar on Wednesday weighed down by surging crude oil prices, which inched closer to the USD 100-a-barrel mark amid the simmering US-Iran tensions. A weak dollar, however, cushioned the fall, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 94.80 against the US dollar, then touched 94.95, registering a fall of 21 paise from its previous close. SYDNEY, Sept 9 (Reuters) – Australia said on Wednesday it sees no risk to its relationship with the United States after reports that the Trump administration criticised Canberra’s ​plans to target social media algorithms, which critics say would curtail ‌free speech.
