Iran reopens airspace after temporary closure forced flights to reroute

WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) – Iran reopened its airspace after a near-five-hour closure amid concerns about possible military action between the U.S. and Iran that forced airlines to cancel, reroute or delay some flights. Iran closed its airspace to all flights except international ones to and from Iran with official permission at 5:15 p.m. ET (2215 GMT) on Wednesday, according to a notice on the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration website. Anti-minority hate speech in India rose by 13% in 2025, US research group says

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) – Hate speech against minorities including Muslims and Christians in India rose by 13% in 2025, with most incidents occurring in states governed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, a Washington-based research group said on Tuesday. India Hate Lab documented 1,318 instances of what it called hate speech in 2025, up from 1,165 in 2024 and 668 in 2023, at events such as political rallies, religious processions, protest marches and cultural gatherings. New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Opposing Lalu Prasad Yadav’s petition to quash its FIR in the land-for-jobs scam case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said the RJD supremo had no role or “public duty” in the matter of appointment as a railway minister. Solicitor General S V Raju, appearing for the CBI, argued before Justice Ravinder Dudeja that the power to take such a decision or make a recommendation was with the general managers and therefore there was no need to obtain prior sanction under section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act to proceed against Lalu
