CPI raises bank unions’ demand of 5-day working in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) Rajya Sabha CPI member Sandosh Kumar P on Tuesday asked the finance minister to address the bank unions’ genuine demands, including filling up vacant posts in public sector banks, and five-day working. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Kumar said the United Forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella organisation of nine unions, has called for a 48-hour bank strike on March 24-25 to press for their demands. New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) Gold prices on Tuesday touched an all-time high of Rs 88,499 per 10 grams in futures trade in line with firm global trends. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, yellow metal contracts for April delivery hit a record high of Rs 88,499 per 10 grams in early trade. NEW DELHI, March 18, 2025 (AP) — Authorities imposed an indefinite curfew in parts of a western Indian city on Tuesday, a day after sectarian clashes were sparked by Hindu nationalist groups who want to demolish the tomb of a 17th-century Muslim Mughal ruler. MUMBAI, March 17 (Reuters) – The Indian rupee strengthened for the third consecutive session on Monday, helped by dollar sales by exporters and foreign banks, coupled with a broadly softer greenback that hovered near a five-month low against its major peers.
