Human biological conditions can influence drug’s interaction with target, study finds

June 10, 2026
Health

New Delhi, Jun 10 (PTI) Fundamental conditions of human biology, such as body temperature and calcium levels in cells, may influence how drugs interact with a target, sometimes even flipping the drug’s effect entirely, according to a new study. Findings published in the journal Nature Structural and Molecular Biology could help explain why drug candidates can look promising in early lab tests but fail later in development. Researchers from the US’ Northwestern University found that a drug, once dismissed as ineffective, suddenly worked when it was tested under more realistic conditions mimicking the human body. “Here we show two such

New Delhi, Jun 10 (PTI) Amid rumours of a possible merger of the TMC (Trinamool Congress) with the Congress, sources from the Mamata Banerjee-led party dismissed the reports on Wednesday, stating there was no such plan. Dismissing the reports, a senior TMC leader called them “baseless”. “We have no such information. This is baseless,” a senior TMC leader told PTI. NEW DELHI, June 10 (Reuters) – India does not have surplus manufacturing capacity in textiles and steel as alleged in the ‌U.S. Trade Representative’s Section 301 investigation, trade official Amitabh Kumar said on Wednesday. Washington has cited structural excess capacity in Indian industries from solar modules and petrochemicals to steel and textiles, as well as its 2025 goods trade surplus of $42 billion with the United States. Kumar, India’s additional trade secretary, said its textile and steel output should be assessed against the size of its population, domestic demand and growth needs, rather than in terms of absolute production. “Overcapacity
