UP court orders arrest of AAP MP Sanjay Singh, others for missing hearing

Sultanpur (UP), Aug 20 (PTI) A Sultanpur court on Tuesday took strong objection to Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh skipping the hearing in a two-decade-old case and ordered police to arrest and produce him on August 28. On August 13, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Singh, SP leader Anoop Sanda, and four others, with the hearing scheduled for Tuesday. The accused however did not appear before the court. “The court has directed the police to arrest all the accused and produce them in the court by August 28,” a court officer told PTI.

New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) With the Centre withdrawing the latest advertisement for lateral entry in bureaucracy, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the Congress will protect the Constitution and the reservation system at all costs and foil “conspiracies” of the BJP. RBI governor urges banks to monitor credit-deposit gap to avoid liquidity issues

MUMBAI, Aug 20 (Reuters) – Indian banks need to carefully monitor the gap between credit and deposit growth to avoid a potential structural liquidity issue, the governor of the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) said on Tuesday. “Young Indians are aspirational. They get attracted to different markets. There is nothing wrong in it, it’s a natural process and a positive development,” Shaktikanta Das told local television channel NDTV Profit in an interview. “We are cautioning banks to monitor this situation carefully. Rupee worst Asia performer over August despite mild rise

MUMBAI, Aug 20 (Reuters) – The Indian rupee rose slightly on Tuesday but continued to underperform its Asian peers which have rallied to multi-month highs in anticipation of a U.S. rate cut next month. The rupee is the worst performing Asian currency so far this month, down 0.2% against the dollar, while its peers have risen as much as 4%.
