Bangladesh’s former PM Khaleda Zia returns to country after treatment from London

Dhaka, May 6 (PTI) Bangladesh’s ailing former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Tuesday returned to the country from London after four months of medical treatment, according to a media report. Zia went to London on January 8 for advanced medical care and was admitted to The London Clinic. After being discharged from the clinic, the BNP chairperson moved to her eldest son Tarique Rahman’s residence, where she has been receiving treatment. An air ambulance sent by the Qatari emir carrying Khaleda and her two daughters-in-law – Tarique Rahman’s wife Zubaida Rahman and the late Arafat Rahman Coco’s wife Syeda Sharmila

May 6 (Reuters) – Gold prices rose to a two-week high on Tuesday as concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff plans boosted interest in the safe-haven metal, while investors awaited the upcoming Federal Reserve policy meeting. Spot gold was up 0.7% at $3,357.63 an ounce, as of 0410 GMT, after hitting its highest level since April 22 earlier in the session. Mumbai, May 6 (PTI) The rupee traded in a narrow range in morning trade on Tuesday and fell 8 paise to 84.38 against the US dollar tracking the rise in the dollar index and fall in Asian currencies, amid growing uncertainty and a cautious recalibration of risk appetite.
