RBI proposes to compensate customers up to Rs 25,000 loss due to fraud

Mumbai, Feb 6 (PTI) RBI (Reserve Bank Governor) Sanjay Malhotra on Friday announced a new framework to compensate customers up to an amount of Rs 25,000 for loss incurred in small-value fraudulent transactions. Announcing the last bi-monthly policy for the current financial year, Malhotra said, “we will also publish a discussion paper on possible measures to enhance the safety of digital payments. Trump claims again that he stopped war between India, Pakistan

New York/Washington, Feb 6 (PTI) US President Donald Trump repeated twice in a single day the claim that he stopped the war between India and Pakistan last year. “In one year, I’ve ended eight raging wars, such as (the war between) Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday. RBI pauses rate cuts, retains interest rate at 5.25 pc

New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI) After a 25 basis point rate cut in December, the RBI on Friday decided to pause on the policy rate front amid geopolitical uncertainties. This is the first monetary policy review after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Budget for financial year 2026-27. Announcing the sixth and final bi-monthly monetary policy for the current fiscal, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to retain short-term lending rate or repo rate at 5.25 per cent with a neutral stance.
