IRCTC case: Court frames charges against Lalu, Rabri and Tejashwi

New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) A court here on Monday framed charges against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and their son Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Leader of Opposition in the state, in the alleged IRCTC scam case, setting the stage for a trial ahead of polls in Bihar. Special Judge Vishal Gogne framed common charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating against Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav in the case, which stems from alleged irregularities in the grant of operational contracts of two Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotels to a private firm.

Gold futures hits record Rs 1.23 lakh/10 g as US-China tensions spur haven demand

New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) Gold prices on Monday surged by Rs 2,613 to hit a fresh peak of Rs 1,23,977 per 10 grams in the domestic futures trade, buoyed by renewed US-China trade tensions, a prolonged US government shutdown, and growing global economic uncertainty that spurred safe-haven demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for December delivery jumped by Rs 2,613, or 2.15 per cent, to hit a record of Rs 1,23,977 per 10 grams. Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) The rupee traded in a narrow range and fell 5 paise to 88.77 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday, tracking the broad strength of the American currency amid a risk-off tone globally. Forex traders said the rupee is hovering near its all-time closing low level as the RBI is monitoring the depreciation of the USDINR pair towards 88.80. Stock markets decline in early trade mirroring weak global peers

Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty fell in early trade on Monday, tracking a sharp decline in global markets after the US announced an additional 100 per cent tariff on Chinese goods effective November 1. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 451.82 points to 82,049 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 109.55 points to 25,175.80. From the Sensex firms, Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel, Infosys, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the major laggards.
