Mumbai, Feb 9 (PTI) The rupee gained 21 paise to 90.44 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday, supported by positive sentiments after India and the US reached a framework for an interim trade pact. Mumbai, Feb 9 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened on a positive note on Monday amid foreign fund inflows, a rally in Asian markets and optimism following a fresh trade agreement between India and the US. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 441.77 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 84,022.17 in the morning trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 129 points, or 0.50 per cent, to 25,822.70. Among the 30-share Sensex constituents, State Bank of India, Titan, Eternal, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharat Electronics Ltd, Tata Steel, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Ports, IndiGo, Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel

Silver, gold extend losses for 2nd day on profit booking, easing global tensions

New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI) Precious metal prices declined sharply in the national capital on Friday, with silver dropping nearly 5 per cent to Rs 2.55 lakh per kg, while gold slipped to Rs 1.57 lakh per 10 grams as investors kept booking profits for the second straight day. According to the All India Sarafa Association, the white metal plunged Rs 13,000, or 4.85 per cent, to Rs 2,55,000 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes) from Thursday’s closing level of Rs 2,68,000 per kg. Rupee falls 36 paise to close at 90.70 against US dollar

Mumbai, Feb 6 (PTI) The rupee declined 36 paise to settle at 90.70 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday, weighed down by geopolitical uncertainty over the US-Iran talks, and a sharp rise in global crude oil prices. The currency gained in the first half of the session after the Reserve Bank announced a status quo on key lending rates; however, sustained foreign fund outflows pressured the local unit, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 90.28 against the greenback and oscillated between the high of 90.18 and the low of 90.83 during the session.
