Mumbai, Feb 6 (PTI) Stock markets closed higher on Friday after the Reserve Bank of India kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged as expected and proposed allowing banks to lend to Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) with certain prudential safeguards to deepen the financing pool for the real estate sector. Helped by fag-end buying, the 30-share BSE Sensex advanced 266.47 points or 0.32 per cent to settle at 83,580.40. From the day’s low of 82,925.35, the benchmark jumped 655.05 points at the end of trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 50.90 points or 0.20 per cent to end at 25,693.70

New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI) An analysis has found that the liver releases proteins into the bloodstream in timed waves, in line with the body clock — findings point to how working in shifts and irregular eating habits can affect liver function and disrupt its circadian rhythm, researchers said. “These are important findings, because they challenge the idea that the liver releases proteins into the blood at a consistent pace,” author Meltem Weger, from the University of Queensland in Australia, said. “This means disruptions to daily routines such as shift work or irregular eating can affect liver function,” she said.

RBI proposes to compensate customers up to Rs 25,000 loss due to fraud

Mumbai, Feb 6 (PTI) RBI (Reserve Bank Governor) Sanjay Malhotra on Friday announced a new framework to compensate customers up to an amount of Rs 25,000 for loss incurred in small-value fraudulent transactions. Announcing the last bi-monthly policy for the current financial year, Malhotra said, “we will also publish a discussion paper on possible measures to enhance the safety of digital payments.
