Stock markets end lower on foreign fund outflows, selling in blue-chips

Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday after a day’s breather, tracking unabated foreign fund outflows and selling in blue-chip stocks amid global tariff-related concerns. Market sentiment was also sluggish due to a weak start to the earnings season, according to traders. In a volatile trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 250.48 points, or 0.30 per cent, to settle at 83,627.69. During the day, it declined 615.38 points, or 0.73 per cent, to 83,262.79. New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Silver futures soared to yet another record of Rs 2,72,202 per kg on Tuesday, tracking firm global trends, as uncertainties surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s policy stance and escalating tensions in Iran spurred safe-haven demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver futures for March delivery jumped by Rs 3,232, or 1.2 per cent, to hit a new record of Rs 2,72,202 per kilogram. Indian carmakers log biggest 2025 sales jump in December, industry body says

Jan 13 (Reuters) – Indian carmakers’ sales to dealers jumped 26.8% in December, their biggest monthly rise of 2025, as tax cuts made several models more affordable and spurred demand, industry data showed on Tuesday. Carmakers sold 399,216 units in the final month of 2025, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said. For the full year, sales grew about 5%, faster than 4.2% growth in 2024.
