Stock markets end higher on rally in Infosys shares

Mumbai, Jan 16 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Friday, driven by a sharp jump in Infosys after the company raised its revenue growth guidance for FY26. After two days of losses, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 187.64 points, or 0.23 per cent, to settle at 83,570.35. During the day, it jumped 752.26 points, or 0.90 per cent, to 84,134.97. The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 28.75 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 25,694.35. WASHINGTON, January 15, 2026 (AP) — U.S. forces in the Caribbean Sea have seized another sanctioned oil tanker the Trump administration says has ties to Venezuela, part of a broader U.S. effort to take control of the South American country’s oil. India’s US exports slip 1.83 pc to USD 6.88 bn in Dec

New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) India’s merchandise exports to the US declined 1.83 per cent to USD 6.88 billion in December 2025 due to high tariffs imposed by America, according to Commerce Ministry data. Exports also contracted in September and October last year. However, it rose 22.61 per cent in November. Exports to the US stood at USD 7.01 billion in December 2024. Imports grew 7.57 per cent to USD 4.03 billion in December 2025, data showed. Unemployment rate rises marginally to 4.8 pc in Dec

New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) Unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above rose marginally to 4.8 per cent in December 2025 compared to 4.7 per cent in the preceding month. The unemployment rate (UR) or joblessness, among persons of age 15 years and above, remained largely stable in December 2025, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Thursday.
