What to know about this weekend’s G20 summit in South Africa that Trump is boycotting

JOHANNESBURG, November 21, 2025 (AP) — Leaders from the Group of 20 countries will meet for a summit in South Africa this weekend without any U.S. representatives after President Donald Trump announced a boycott over his widely rejected claims that the host country is persecuting its Afrikaner white minority. Trump’s decision to pull the United States — and himself — out of the talks in Johannesburg is likely to undermine the first G20 leaders’ meeting in Africa, as well as South Africa’s aim to push for progress on issues affecting poor countries, such as the impact of climate change, the

DHAKA, Bangladesh, November 19, 2025 (AP) — This week’s sentencing to death of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on charges of crimes against humanity is seen by her opponents as a chance to move forward for a nation traumatized by the scale of the violent uprising that drove her from power into exile. Hasina has been in India since Aug. 5 last year, when her 15-year rule ended during the violence that left hundreds of people dead and thousands injured. She has rejected Monday’s verdict, calling it “biased and politically motivated.” Challenges are enormous for Bangladesh’s interim government led

Mumbai, Nov 19 (PTI) The rupee closed 2 paise higher at 88.58 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, aided by buying momentum in domestic equity markets and lower crude oil prices overseas. Forex traders said a strong American currency and outflow of foreign capital prevented a sharp gain in the rupee even as investors were concerned about the progress on the proposed India-US trade deal. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 88.57 and hit an intra-day high of 88.41 against the greenback. The domestic unit settled the day at 88.58 (provisional) against the dollar, logging
