NEW DELHI, Aug 24 (Reuters) – Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to attend next month’s BRICS summit in New Delhi with a ‌large delegation, three sources said, in what would be his first visit in seven years and a fresh sign of a thaw between the rivals. India is hosting the September 12 to 13 summit, where Xi’s presence would be watched less for the BRICS agenda than for what it signals about Beijing and New Delhi’s efforts to stabilise relations after deadly border clashes in 2020. “Chinese officials are busy finalising hotels and security protocols,” one of the

Sugar prices in India, the world’s biggest consumer of the sweetener, have jumped more than 40% in two months to a record high, prompting New Delhi to allow duty-free imports of 1 million metric tons of raw sugar for the first time in nearly a decade. “Sugar stocks and supplies are more than comfortable, and there will be no

Kolkata, Aug 24 (PTI) Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday asserted that she would not take political ‘sanyas’ (retirement) and won’t stop till she forced the BJP into obscurity. In a Facebook Live, she also said people of the state had understood the true face of the BJP within four months of the change in the government. Banerjee alleged that the Census exercise was another backdoor attempt to enforce the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and that it was implemented without consulting political parties.
