US Justice Department releases new tranche of Epstein files

WASHINGTON, Dec 23 (Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department released a new trove of documents on Tuesday from its investigation into the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including an email from a prosecutor indicating President Trump had traveled aboard his private jet “many more times than previously has been reported”. The latest release includes around 30,000 pages of documents, with many redactions, and dozens of video clips, including several purporting to be shot inside a federal detention center. Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) The rupee fell 5 paise to 89.73 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday amid FII outflows and a weak opening in the domestic equity markets. However, a weaker greenback and a drop in global crude oil prices prevented sharper losses in the local unit, according to forex traders. At the interbank foreign exchange, the local unit opened at 89.67 against the dollar but lost ground to trade at 89.73, down 5 paise from its previous close. Mumbai, Dec 23 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined in early trade on Tuesday after two days of sharp rally, dragged by IT stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 116.57 points to 85,450.91 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined by 27.15 points to 26,145.25. Market experts said that trading volumes are expected to remain subdued amid the holiday-shortened week.
