Anti-minority hate speech in India rose by 13% in 2025, US research group says

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) – Hate speech against minorities including Muslims and Christians in India rose by 13% in 2025, with most incidents occurring in states governed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, a Washington-based research group said on Tuesday. India Hate Lab documented 1,318 instances of what it called hate speech in 2025, up from 1,165 in 2024 and 668 in 2023, at events such as political rallies, religious processions, protest marches and cultural gatherings. Land-for-jobs: Lalu had no role in appointments as minister, CBI to HC

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Opposing Lalu Prasad Yadav’s petition to quash its FIR in the land-for-jobs scam case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said the RJD supremo had no role or “public duty” in the matter of appointment as a railway minister. Silver scales fresh peak of Rs 2.71 lakh/kg; gold hits record Rs 1.45 lakh/10g in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Silver prices surged by Rs 6,000 to hit a fresh lifetime high of Rs 2,71,000 per kg in the national capital on Tuesday, and gold climbed to yet another record of Rs 1,45,000 per 10 grams amid sustained buying by the stockists. According to the All India Sarafa Association, the white precious metal extended its gains for the third consecutive day by jumping Rs 6,000, or 2.3 per cent, to Rs 2,71,000 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes).
