Stock markets decline as elevated crude oil prices weigh on sentiment; Sensex drops 388 points

Mumbai, Aug 11 (PTI) Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday as a sharp rally in crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainties dented investors’ sentiment. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 388.19 points, or 0.49 per cent, to settle at 78,154.25. During the day, it tanked 494.18 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 78,048.26. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 112.10 points, or 0.46 per cent, to end at 24,471.70. Mumbai, Aug 11 (PTI) The rupee declined 13 paise to settle at 95.43 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking a sharp rise in global crude oil prices amid geopolitical uncertainties. However, recent foreign capital inflows provided some support to the local unit, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.38 against the US dollar and traded in a very narrow range of 95.37-95.45. Eventually it settled at 95.43 (provisional), down 13 paise from its previous close. The rupee declined 13 paise to settle at 95.30 against the US dollar on Monday. “The

New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Monday announced a nationwide campaign to improve government schools in villages, calling on parents to conduct social audits of basic facilities and sarpanches to take up the task of improving the institutions.
