Mumbai, Apr 22 (PTI) The rupee stayed weak for the third straight session, falling 31 paise to 93.75 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, weighed down by higher crude oil prices amid uncertainties over a West Asia peace agreement. Selling pressure in domestic equity markets and withdrawal of foreign capital further pressured the Indian currency, forex traders said. Stock markets fall in early trade dragged by IT firms

Mumbai. Apr 22 (PTI) Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty declined in early trade on Wednesday after a three-day rally, dragged by heavy selling in IT stocks. Foreign fund outflows and fears of possibility of prolonged instability in West Asia also dented markets’ sentiment. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 494.12 points to 78,779.21 in early trade. Silver, gold rise as geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia keeps bullion in focus

New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) Silver prices rose Rs 700 to Rs 2.58 lakh per kilogram in the national capital on Tuesday, while gold also edged higher amid geopolitical uncertainty and mixed global cues. According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9 per cent purity gained Rs 300 to Rs 1,57,300 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes). Gold prices saw a slight uptick in the domestic markets as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, prompting investors to seek safe-haven assets, Gaurav Garg, Research Analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk, said. However, global trends remained weak.
