Bank of Baroda suspends officials linked to ‘bob World’ manipulation case

New Delhi, Oct 19 (PTI) Days after the Reserve Bank of India barred state-owned Bank of Baroda from onboarding fresh customers on its mobile application, the Mumbai-based lender has suspended some officials related to alleged manipulation of ‘bob World’. According to sources, some officials as high as assistant general managers have been suspended in connection with the alleged tampering of customer accounts with the intention to inflate registrations on the bank’s mobile app, ‘bob World’. RBI likely offering US dollars to defend rupee – traders

MUMBAI, Oct 19 (Reuters) – The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) is likely selling U.S. dollars again to defend the rupee and keep it from sliding to a record low, three traders told Reuters on Thursday. The rupee was at 83.2650 against the dollar, little changed from its close at 83.2575 in the previous session. The rupee, aided by the RBI, held its ground despite weakness in most Asian currencies and higher U.S. yields. The RBI’s intervention “was expected”, a foreign exchange trader at a private bank said.
