US regulator seeks to bypass Indian government to serve Adani summons

NEW DELHI, Jan 22 (Reuters) – The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has asked a U.S. court for permission to personally email summons to Indian billionaire Gautam Adani and group executive Sagar Adani over alleged fraud and a $265 million bribery scheme, filings show. Mumbai, Jan 22 (PTI) Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded on Thursday after three sessions of losses, tracking gains in global markets after US President Donald Trump struck a conciliatory tone on Greenland. In a volatile session, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 397.74 points, or 0.49 per cent, to close at 82,307.37. During the day, the benchmark surged by 873.55 points, or 1.06 per cent, to hit an intraday high of 82,783.18. The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 132.40 points, or 0.53 per cent, to settle at 25,289.90.
