Planet-based diet may reduce risk of Alzheimer’s disease: Study

New Delhi, Dec 5 (PTI) Plant-based and traditional diets found in countries such as China, Japan and India may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, especially when compared to the Western diet, according to a study. Researchers from the Sunlight, Nutrition, and Health Research Center, US, found that Alzheimer’s disease rates rise in these countries as they make the nutrition transition to the Western diet. The study, published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, discusses in detail the role of diet in modifying the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Nine killed as southern India braces for Cyclone Michaung

BHUBANESHWAR, India, Dec 5 (Reuters) – Heavy rains submerged roads in southern India on Tuesday, where at least nine people, including a child, were killed in the flooding and the havoc hours before a severe cyclone was due to make landfall. TMC raises seat sharing issue at opposition meet

New Delhi, Dec 4 (PTI) Ahead of the December 6 meeting of the INDIA bloc, the issue of deciding on seat sharing was raised by leaders of the TMC during a meeting of opposition leaders held on Monday to decide the strategy for the Winter Session of Parliament, according to sources. TMC was represented by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha floor leaders – Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Derek O’Brien – in the meeting held in Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s chamber in the Parliament.
