Sensex, Nifty settle almost flat in lacklustre trade

Mumbai, Mar 11 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended on a flat note in a lacklustre trade on Tuesday as investors preferred to remain on the sidelines awaiting further triggers ahead of macroeconomic data release. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 12.85 points or 0.02 per cent to settle at 74,102.32. During the day, it slumped 451.57 points or 0.61 per cent to hit a low of 73,663.60. Mumbai, Mar 11 (PTI) The rupee recovered from steep losses and settled with a gain of 10 paise at 87.21 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday as the American currency index fell to its four-month low level and crude oil prices also stayed subdued. A volatile trend in domestic equity markets and outflow of foreign capital amid fear of recession in the US and trade-related uncertainties restricted the recovery in the local currency, forex traders said.
