New Delhi, Apr 11 (PTI) Gold prices surged by Rs 6,250 to hit a record high of Rs 96,450 per 10 grams in the national capital on Friday due to heavy demand from local jewellers and retailers, according to the All India Sarafa Association. Analysts said the precious metal hitting lifetime high levels in the international markets on strong safe-haven demand amid escalating US-China trade tensions boosted the domestic prices. Mumbai, Apr 11 (PTI) The rupee surged 61 paise against the greenback to settle at 86.07 (provisional) on Friday due to a sharp correction in the US dollar and a strong rebound in the domestic equity markets. The surge in the local unit came a day after US President Donald Trump suspended the 26 per cent tariffs on India till July 9. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 86.22, up 46 paise against the US dollar. Mumbai, Apr 11 (PTI) Benchmark Sensex surged by 1,310 points while Nifty closed above 22,900 level on Friday after the US announced suspension of additional tariffs on India for 90 days until July 9 this year. Defying a bearish trend in world markets, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 1,310.11 points or 1.77 per cent to settle at 75,157.26. During the day, it soared 1,620.18 points or 2.19 per cent to 75,467.33. The NSE Nifty surged 429.40 points or 1.92 per cent to 22,828.55. New Delhi [India], April 11 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT department incharge Amit Malviya on Friday lashed out at Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the latter’s criticism of the government’s inaction on “Employment Linked Incentive” scheme, saying that he was “gaslighting” India’s youth. “Either Rahul Gandhi’s team has completely failed to brief him on the facts, or–far more likely–he’s weaponising his trademark ignorance to gaslight India’s youth. This isn’t a gaffe; it’s a calculated strategy to distort reality, using his platform to spread misinformation under the guise of cluelessness,” Malviya posted on X.
