Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren flags off publicity vehicles during the launch of the state-wide anti-drug awareness campaign in Ranchi on Monday, June 18, 2026.

Ranchi, Jun 15 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday launched a statewide anti-drug awareness campaign and called upon people to join the government’s efforts to make the state free from narcotics abuse.

The campaign was launched from the state secretariat premises with the flagging off of 11 publicity vehicles that will travel across the state to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction.

Addressing the programme, Soren said addiction affects not only individuals but also families, society and the future of the state.

“Saving people from the clutches of addiction and inspiring them towards a healthy, positive and purposeful life is among our utmost priorities. Alongside strict action against the illegal trade of narcotic substances, the state government is running a comprehensive public awareness campaign,” he said.

The CM urged people to stay away from drugs and spread awareness among family members and communities about the dangers of substance abuse.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also inaugurated the ‘District Sandbox’ initiative on the occasion of MedTech Innovation Day. The programme is being implemented by the Indian Development Trust (IDT) and the PHIA Foundation.

Soren said Jharkhand offers immense opportunities for innovators to develop practical solutions tailored to local needs, particularly in tribal and rural areas.

“Innovations in healthcare, artificial intelligence and technology-based solutions have the potential to shape the future and bring meaningful change to people’s lives,” he said.

The District Sandbox initiative will provide a platform for testing and scaling new health technologies under real-world conditions, with a focus on improving healthcare delivery in rural, tribal and underserved communities, he added.
