New Delhi, Apr 25 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Friday censured Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “irresponsible” remarks on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar at a rally in Maharashtra but stayed the criminal proceedings against him. Medha Patkar arrested in 24-year-old defamation case, produced in court

New Delhi, Apr 25 (PTI) Social activist Medha Patkar was arrested here on Friday, two days after a court issued a non-bailable warrant against her for not furnishing probation bonds in a 24-year-old defamation case, an official said. The case was filed by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. A police team reached Patkar’s residence in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area in the morning and took her into custody, they said. “We have executed the NBW and Medha Patkar has been arrested,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Ravi Kumar Singh said. Asian shares soar after Wall Street rallies into a 3rd day

HONG KONG, April 25, 2025 (AP) — Asian markets were higher Friday after Wall Street rallied for the third day, driven by hopes for the Federal Reserve to cut rates. Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 surged 1.9% to 35,705.74 and the Kospi in South Korea gained 0.9% to 2,546.15. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng picked up 0.7% to 22,056.39, while the Shanghai Composite Index inched down 0.1% to 3,295.78. The rally was boosted by hopes that Trump was softening his approach on tariffs and his criticism of the Federal Reserve, but China denied Thursday it’s involved in active trade negotiations with the U.S.

Will keep fighting harder: Trinamool MP Saket Gokhale on court order attaching salary

New Delhi, Apr 25 (PTI) Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale on Friday said he will “keep fighting harder”, a day after the Delhi Hight Court ordered to attach part of his salary in a defamation case filed by former diplomat Lakshmi Puri. “It doesn’t matter to me — I’ll only keep fighting even harder. I am a soldier of Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool,” Gokhale said in a brief statement issued to media.
