Markets end marginally higher; Sensex climbs 70 points on foreign fund inflows

Mumbai, Apr 29 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty settled marginally higher in a volatile trade on Tuesday as investors turned cautious amid concerns over geopolitical tensions. However, intense buying in blue-chips Reliance Industries, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services and unabated foreign capital inflows supported the domestic market. The 30-share BSE benchmark gauge climbed 70.01 points or 0.09 per cent to settle at 80,288.38. During the day, it jumped 442.94 points or 0.55 per cent to 80,661.31. Gold futures fall Rs 550 to Rs 95,475/10 g

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) Gold prices on Tuesday declined Rs 550 to Rs 95,475 per 10 grams in futures trade amid muted spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for June delivery traded lower by Rs 550 or 0.57 per cent to Rs 95,475 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 17,745 lots. Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to weak global cues. In the international markets, gold futures fell 0.80 per cent to USD 3,317.18 per ounce in New York.

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of convicted former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt in a 1990 custodial death case in which he was sentenced to life imprisonment. A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta said there was no merit in his plea for bail or the suspension of sentence in the case. “We are not inclined to grant Sanjiv Bhatt bail.
