LS elections: Assam records 77.35% voter turnout in second phase of polls

Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 27 (ANI): Assam recorded 77.35 per cent voter turnout in the second phase of polls, which was held in five parliamentary constituencies in the state on April 26. According to the Election Commission, 77.35 per cent of voters in five parliamentary constituencies – Silchar, Karimganj, Diphu, Nagaon and Darrang-Udalguri, came out to exercise their franchise in the second phase of polls. 80.56 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Nagaon parliamentary constituency, while 78.41 per cent voter turnout was recorded in Darrang-Udalguri, 75.97 per cent in Silchar, 75.63 per cent in Karimganj and 73.11 per cent

Govt employee taken into Police custody for refusing Election Duty

Agovernment employee who refused to join poll duty in Latur despite repeated reminders was brought to the tehsildar’s office by police, an official said on Friday. He was brought on Thursday following a directive to the police by the tehsildar under relevant poll rules, the official added. ”He apologised to the authorities and began his poll work on Thursday. Excise policy case Delhi court extends judicial custody of Manish Sisodia others till May 8

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI): A court here on Friday extended the judicial custody of AAP leader Manish Sisodia, co-accused Vijay Nair and others till May 8 in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The accused persons were produced before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja through video conferencing on the expiry of their judicial custody granted earlier. The judge also directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit a report on how much time it was likely to take to digitize the documents related to the charge sheet.
