New Delhi, Nov 17 (PTI) The teachers and students from various universities gathered here on Sunday to express solidarity with professors Salil Mishra and Asmita Kabra, protesting their termination from Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD). The protestors called the action an attack on academic freedom and demanded their immediate reinstatement. Mishra and Kabra were dismissed on November 5 by AUD’s Board of Management (BoM) over alleged procedural lapses in the regularisation of 38 non-teaching staff in 2018. Maharashtra polls: Sharad Pawar’s bags checked in Baramati

Pune, Nov 17 (PTI) NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar’s bags were checked by the poll personnel at Baramati helipad in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday morning, according to his associate. Pawar was on way to attend a poll rally in Solapur, the associate said. The model of code of conduct is enforced in the state for the assembly elections scheduled on November 20. “While Pawar saheb was on his way to Karmala poll rally in Solapur, his bags were checked at the Baramati helipad. After the due checking, he boarded the chopper and proceeded for the rally,” the associate said.

Mumbai, Nov 17 (PTI) Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and various other leaders from across political spectrum on Sunday paid homage to Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray on his 12th death anniversary. Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray and his wife Rashmi Thackeray visited his father’s memorial at the Shivaji Park in Mumbai and offered floral tributes. Several members of the two rival Sena factions also visited the memorial as a mark of respect to Bal Thackeray.
