ISLAMABAD, May 10 (Reuters) – Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the National Command Authority on Saturday, the military said, after Islamabad launched a military operation against India and targeted multiple bases. The authority is the top body of civilian and military officials that takes security decisions including those related to the country’s nuclear arsenal. Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours escalated this week as they both accused each other of violating airspaces by sending drones and other munitions, killing at least 48 people.

New Delhi, May 9 (PTI) Gold prices rallied Rs 480 to Rs 99,730 per 10 grams in the national capital on Friday as rising tensions between India and Pakistan triggered demand for safe haven assets, according to the All India Sarafa Association. The precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had ended at Rs 99,250 per 10 grams in the previous market close. Gold of 99.5 per cent purity climbed Rs 480 to Rs 99,280 per 10 grams on Friday. Rupee rises 17 paise to close at 85.41 against US dollar

Mumbai, May 9 (PTI) The rupee pared its initial losses and settled for the day higher by 17 paise at 85.41 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday, as likely intervention by the Reserve Bank of India helped contain excess depreciation of the rupee. Forex traders said the rupee opened on a weak note on the escalation of hostility between India and Pakistan, however, RBI intervened to prevent major weakness.
