New Delhi, Dec 6 (PTI) Several Opposition MPs led by the Congress on Friday held a protest march inside Parliament complex on the Adani issue, wearing black masks that read “Modi Adani bhai bhai”. The protest saw several leaders from some of the INDIA bloc parties marching, holding a copy of the Constitution and raising slogans against industrialist Gautam Adani. RJD, JMM and left parties’ MPs were among those who joined the protest. TMC and Samajwadi Party, which did not participate in demonstration, have so far stayed away from any such denunciation of Adani. The decision has been seen by

RBI keeps repo rate unchanged; cuts banks’ cash reserve ratio

MUMBAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) kept its key interest rate unchanged on Friday but cut the cash reserve ratio (CRR) that banks are required to hold, effectively easing monetary conditions as economic growth slows. The country’s GDP growth rate fell to 5.4% in the July-September quarter, its slowest pace in seven quarters, while inflationary pressures are on the rise again and the rupee is under pressure, limiting the RBI’s room to manoeuvre. The CRR was cut by 50 basis points to 4%, effective in two tranches on Dec.14 and Dec. 28. The cut will

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Dec 5 (PTI) In a comedy of errors, almost every fifth voter of a polling booth in a Bihar legislative council constituency, where a by-election was held on Thursday (December 5), has the father of the same name. Officials conceded that it was an “anomaly” in the electoral roll which would, however, not affect the poll process for the Tirhut Graduates constituency, where 18 candidates are in the fray. The voters, numbering slightly over 1.5 lakh, are spread across 197 booths in the districts of Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and Sheohar. The anomaly has come to light in the

Politics

New Delhi, Dec 5 (PTI) Opposition members in Rajya Sabha on Thursday accused the government of imposing Hindi by bringing new bills with titles only in that language, a charge the treasury bench contested while alleging they were stuck with a colonial mindset. Taking part in the discussion on ‘The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024’ that seeks to replace the 90-year-old Aircraft Act to boost the ease of doing business and attract investments in the aviation sector, TMC MP Sagarika Ghose opposed the bill’s name while Kanimozhi NVN Somu of DMK asked the government to change its name. “Why do so
