Markets end higher as inflation cools to 6-yr low in April

May 14, 2025
Finance

Mumbai, May 14 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Wednesday as retail inflation eased to a nearly six-year low of 3.16 per cent in April, creating enough room for the RBI to go for another rate cut in the June monetary policy review. A cooling US April inflation data and a pause in global trade tensions added to the positive trend in the equity markets, traders said. In a highly volatile trade, the 30-share BSE benchmark gauge Sensex climbed 182.34 points or 0.22 per cent to settle at 81,330.56. The gauge hit a high of 81,691.87

Mumbai, May 14 (PTI) The rupee pared most of its initial gains and ended the day higher by 10 paise at 85.26 (provisional) against the American currency on Wednesday, supported by gains in domestic equities and positive macroeconomic data. Forex traders said the weakness of the American currency in the overseas market and rising appetite for riskier assets amid easing trade tariff tensions boosted investors’ sentiments. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened on a positive note and moved between the intra-day high of 85.05 and the low of 85.52 against the greenback. The unit ended the session

Beijing has renamed places in Arunachal Pradesh in the past as well and the issue has been an irritant in ties between the two countries, especially as they deteriorated sharply after a deadly military clash elsewhere on their border in 2020. They reached an agreement in October to step back from their four-year military stand-off in the

Health

May 14 (Fox News Health) – Left-handedness and certain neurological disorders could go hand-in-hand, a new study revealed, though the researchers and others acknowledged potential limitations. While about 10% of people in the world are left-handed, people with autism are 3.5 times more likely to have the trait, according to an international team of researchers that analyzed data from over 200,000 individuals. The study, published in the journal Psychological Bulletin, indicated that left- and mixed-handedness also appear more often in people who have diagnoses such as schizophrenia, autism and intellectual disability. Mixed-handedness refers to a situation in which people may
