Mumbai, Sep 9 (PTI) Benchmark Sensex rose by 314 points and Nifty closed above 24,850 on Tuesday following a rebound in IT and FMCG shares and hopes of a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve later this month. Rising for the second day in a row, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 314.02 points or 0.39 per cent to settle at 81,101.32. During the day, it surged 394.07 points or 0.48 per cent to 81,181.37. Bihar cabinet nod to increase honourarium of anganwadi workers

Patna, Sept 9 (PTI) The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for increasing the honourariums of anganwadi workers and helpers. A proposal of the Social Welfare Department in this regard was approved at a meeting of the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The decision assumes significance ahead of the assembly polls, due to be held in a few months. “Now anganwadi workers (sevika) will get Rs 9,000 per month, up from Rs 7,000 they had been receiving. Similarly, the honourarium for helpers (sahayika) has been hiked from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500,” said an official. The

Kathmandu, Sep 9 (PTI) Fresh anti-government protests, led by students, broke out in several parts of Nepal on Tuesday, defying curbs on public gatherings, as demonstrators demanded resignation of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. Demonstrations were reported from Kalanki and Baneshwor in Kathmandu, as well as the Chapagaun-Thecho area of Lalitpur district. Protesters, mostly students, chanted slogans such as “Don’t kill students”, defying the restrictions on public gatherings.
