Mumbai, May 26 (PTI) Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty surged on Monday due to a host of positive triggers like India emerging as the fourth largest economy in the world and US President Donald Trump delayed 50 per cent EU tariffs to July 9. The 30-share BSE benchmark gauge Sensex jumped 455.37 points or 0.56 per cent to settle at 82,176.45. During the day, it surged 771.16 points or 0.94 per cent to 82,492.24. New Delhi, May 26 (PTI) Gold prices rose by Rs 550 to Rs 99,300 per 10 grams in the national capital on Monday on persistent buying by jewellers and retailers, according to the All India Sarafa Association. The precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had closed at Rs 98,750 per 10 grams on Friday. Since Wednesday last week, gold prices have risen by Rs 2,760 per 10 grams. Mumbai, May 26 (PTI) Rising for the second straight session, the rupee jumped 35 paise to close at 85.10 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, buoyed by a positive trend in domestic equity markets and a weak American currency overseas.
