Stock markets rise for 4th day on global rally, gains in banking shares after RBI rate cut

Mumbai, Jun 9 (PTI) Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher for the fourth day in a row on Monday following a rally in global markets and upbeat investors’ sentiment after the RBI’s jumbo 50 basis points rate cut. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 256.22 points or 0.31 per cent to settle at 82,445.21, driven by buying in bank stocks. During the day, it jumped 480.01 points or 0.58 per cent to 82,669. Silver futures rise Rs 65 to Rs 1,05,524/kg

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) Silver prices on Monday increased by Rs 65 to Rs 1,05,524 per kilogram in futures trade, as participants increased their bets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for July delivery rose Rs 65 or 0.06 per cent to Rs 1,05,524 per kg in a business turnover of 21,115 lots. resh positions built up by participants led to a rise in silver prices, analysts said. Globally, silver was trading 0.21 per cent higher at USD 36.05 per ounce in New York.

Gold futures decline Rs 521 to Rs 96,515/10 gm

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) Gold prices on Monday declined by Rs 521 to Rs 96,515 per 10 grams in futures trade amid muted spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for August delivery traded lower by Rs 521 or 0.54 per cent at Rs 96,515 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 13,204 lots. In the international markets, gold futures rose 0.03 per cent to USD 3,311.48 per ounce in New York.

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2025 (AP) — President Donald Trump’s new ban on travel to the U.S. by citizens from 12 mainly African and Middle Eastern countries took effect Monday amid rising tension over the president’s escalating campaign of immigration enforcement. The new proclamation, which Trump signed last week, applies to citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
