Rupee rises 17 paise to 85.56 against US dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Jul 10 (PTI) The rupee appreciated 17 paise to 85.56 against US dollar in early trade on Thursday, as the US-India trade talks made modest progress, with tariff deadline extensions on select Indian exports offering short-term relief. Forex traders said rupee traded in a volatile but narrow range as market participants stayed on the sidelines, waiting for clarity on the US-India interim trade deal. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 85.62 against the dollar, then touched an early high of 85.56, up 17 paise from its previous close. On Wednesday, the rupee closed flat at 85.73

July 10 (Reuters) – Gold prices edged higher on Thursday, helped by a slight retreat in the dollar and bond yields, while investors kept a close tab on trade negotiations as U.S. President Donald Trump broadened his tariff war.
