SINGAPORE, April 8 (Reuters) – India has withdrawn its offer to host the United Nations ​annual climate Conference Of the ‌Parties (COP33) in 2028, two government officials familiar with the matter told Reuters. NEW DELHI, April 8 (Reuters) – India on Wednesday raised its nutrient-based subsidy for summer-sown crops by ​11.6% from a year earlier to shield ‌farmers from rising global fertiliser prices following the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran. The cabinet approved a nutrient-based subsidy scheme worth ​415.34 billion rupees ($4.50 billion) for the summer ​crop season, Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. NEW DELHI, April 8 (Reuters) – South Asia’s growth is expected to slow to 6.3% in 2026 from 7.0% in 2025 as the conflict in the Middle-East and disruptions in global ​energy markets weigh on the import-dependent region, the World Bank said on ‌Wednesday. In its latest South Asia Economic Update, the bank said growth should recover to 6.9% in 2027, while the region would remain the fastest growing among emerging market and developing economies.
