Defamation complaint against Nawab Malik: No prima facie evidence of offence, says police

Mumbai, Aug 25 (PTI) Police have informed a magistrate court here that there was no prima facie evidence of a cognisable or non-cognisable offence in the defamation and stalking complaint filed by former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede’s sister against senior NCP leader Nawab Malik. The Bandra magistrate court had ordered an enquiry into Yasmeen Wankhede’s complaint under section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and directed the police to file its report. New Development Bank names RBI’s Rajiv Ranjan as vice president

BENGALURU, Aug 25 (Reuters) – New Development Bank (NDB), a multilateral lender developed by BRICS member nations, said on Monday it had appointed India’s central bank executive director, Rajiv Ranjan, as its vice president. Ranjan has been appointed as the vice president for five years, according to a statement. He will also serve as the chief risk officer, according to the NDB website. India warns Pakistan of flood threat in first known official contact for months

ISLAMABAD, August 25, 2025 (AP) — India has alerted Pakistan about possible cross-border flooding after heavy monsoon rains in the South Asian region, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday, in what marks the first public official contact between the two nuclear-armed rivals in months. The ministry said New Delhi conveyed the information through diplomatic channels instead of the Indus Waters Commission, the permanent mechanism created under the 1960 World Bank-brokered Indus Waters Treaty. New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) Gold prices slipped Rs 200 to Rs 1,00,170 per 10 grams in the national capital on Monday due to selling by stockists in line with a bearish trend in the global markets, according to the All India Sarafa Association. On Friday, the precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had closed at Rs 1,00,370 per 10 grams.
