Mumbai, Sep 5 (PTI) The rupee rose 1 paisa to 88.11 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday on the back of a weaker greenback and a drop in global crude oil prices. However, sustained FII outflows capped further gains in the local unit, according to forex traders. Positive sentiments in the domestic equity markets further lent support to the rupee, which had slipped to its record low-level earlier this week, they said. Heart diseases cause one-third of all deaths in India: Report

New Delhi, Sep 5 (PTI) Heart diseases remain the leading cause of mortality in India, causing nearly 31 per cent of deaths, according to the latest data presented by the Sample Registration Survey under the Registrar General of India. The Report on Causes of Death: 2021-2023, issued on Wednesday, said non-communicable diseases are the leading causes of death in the country, constituting 56.7 per cent of all deaths. “Communicable, maternal, perinatal and nutritional conditions constitute another 23.4 per cent of deaths. In the 2020-2022 (affected by COVID) period, the corresponding values were 55.7 per cent and 24.0 per cent, respectively,”

New Delhi, Sep 4 (PTI) Gold prices retreated from record highs by plunging Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,06,070 per 10 grams in the national capital on Thursday, as traders booked profits in tandem with a weak trend in global markets. The precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had settled at Rs 1,07,070 per 10 grams, its all-time high level on Wednesday. Gold of 99.5 per cent purity also witnessed a pullback, depreciating Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,05,200 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes) on Thursday.
