WASHINGTON, September 10, 2025 (AP) — A federal court ruled Tuesday that embattled Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook can remain in her position while she fights President Donald Trump’s efforts to fire her. The ruling, which will almost certainly be appealed, is a blow to the Trump administration’s efforts to assert more control over the traditionally independent Fed, which sets short-term interest rates to achieve its congressionally mandated goals of stable prices and maximum employment. Congress has also sought to insulate the Fed from day-to-day politics. U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb late Tuesday granted Cook’s request for a preliminary injunction

Mumbai, Sep 10 (PTI) The rupee rose 5 paise to 88.10 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, aided by FII inflows and a weaker greenback against foreign currencies. However, a moderate rise in global crude oil prices prevented sharper gains in the local unit, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 88.11 against the US dollar before inching up to 88.10, higher by 5 paise from its previous close. The rupee had pared initial gains and dropped 6 paise to revisit its record low of 88.15 against the US dollar on Tuesday.
