Stock markets climb in early trade as steady US inflation data fuel global rally

Mumbai, Aug 13 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty climbed in early trade on Wednesday as steady US inflation data propelled a sharp rally in global markets. Besides, retail inflation slowing to an 8-year low of 1.55 per cent in July also led to the positive trend in domestic equities. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 327.79 points to 80,563.38 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty edged up by 112.15 points to 24,599.55. WASHINGTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Tuesday said several large trade agreements were still waiting to be completed, including with Switzerland and India, but the South Asian country had been “a bit recalcitrant” in talks with the United States. New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Gold prices plunged Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,01,520 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday in line with a sell-off in global markets, according to the All India Sarafa Association. On Monday, the precious metal of 99.9 per cent purity had settled at Rs 1,02,520 per 10 grams.
