Mumbai, Jan 23 (PTI) Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty pared opening gains to trade lower in the early session on Friday amid sustained selling by foreign institutional investors. The 30-share BSE Sensex opened higher at 82,335.94 and later hit a high of 82,516.27. However, profit-taking by investors dragged the barometer into the red. Mumbai, Jan 23 (PTI) The rupee gained 17 paise to trade at 91.41 against the US dollar in early deals on Friday, as investor sentiments improved after US President Donald Trump stepped back from tariff threats against Europe linked to Greenland, easing immediate trade-war fears. Forex traders said Trump’s softer rhetoric reduced near-term geopolitical anxiety.
