Stock markets tumble in early trade on boiling crude oil prices, weak global trends

Mumbai, Mar 12 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled in early trade on Thursday as a sharp jump in crude oil prices due to the widening crisis in West Asia weighed heavily on investors’ sentiment. Besides, weak global market trends and relentless foreign fund outflows also dampened sentiments, analysts said. The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 992.53 points to 75,871.18 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty dived 310.55 points to 23,556.30. Rupee falls 31 paise to 92.32 against US dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Mar 12 (PTI) The rupee depreciated 31 paise to 92.32 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, pressured by FII outflows, rising global crude oil prices and a stronger greenback as the conflict in West Asia showed no signs of relenting. A weak start to the session at the domestic equity markets further weighed on the local unit, according to traders. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 92.25 against the US dollar and slipped further to 92.32, down 31 paise from its previous close.
