DA may be hiked by 4% today for central govt employees, pensioners

New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) The Union Cabinet on Wednesday increased DA (Dearness Allowance) and DR (Dearness Relief) by 3 per cent for about 49.19 lakh central government employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners. The DA/DR increase of 3 per cent over the existing rate of 55 per cent of the basic pay/pension to compensate against the price rise is effective July 1, 2025. The combined impact on the exchequer on account of an increase in DA and DR will be Rs 10,083.96 crore per annum, I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while briefing on decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting. New Delhi, Sep 30 (PTI) The total number of electors in poll-bound Bihar have come down to 7.42 crore in the final electoral roll published on Tuesday from 7.89 crore before the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list carried out by the Election Commission. The final figure is, however, more than 7.24 crore electors named in the draft list issued on August 1, which had removed 65 lakh voters from the original list on various accounts, including deaths, migration and duplication of voters. New Delhi, Sep 30 (PTI) Gold prices on Tuesday climbed Rs 500 to touch record Rs 1.20 lakh per 10 grams in the national capital due to a weak dollar and expectations of further rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve. Mumbai, Sep 30 (PTI) The rupee fell 4 paise to an all-time low of 88.79 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, pressured by sustained foreign capital outflows amid global trade uncertainties. However, a steep fall in global crude oil prices, along with a weaker greenback, prevented a sharp decline in the local unit, according to forex traders.
