Stock markets decline in early trade mirroring weak global peers

Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty fell in early trade on Monday, tracking a sharp decline in global markets after the US announced an additional 100 per cent tariff on Chinese goods effective November 1. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 451.82 points to 82,049 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 109.55 points to 25,175.80. From the Sensex firms, Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel, Infosys, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the major laggards. New York, Oct 13 (PTI) After missing the Nobel Peace Prize, US President Donald Trump has claimed to have resolved eight wars, including the one between India and Pakistan, saying, he did not do this for the Nobel. New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) Silver prices saw the steepest single-day surge in the recent past and skyrocketed Rs 8,500 to hit a new record of Rs 1,71,500 per kilogram in the national capital on Friday, buoyed by persistent safe-haven inflows and severe supply constraints in global markets. According to the All India Sarafa Association, the white metal closed at Rs 1,63,000 per kilogram on Thursday. Silver prices soared by Rs 17,500 per kg in the past three consecutive sessions.
