Stock markets recover early lost ground; trade higher on foreign fund inflows

Mumbai, Oct 17 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty bounced back after starting the trade on a weak note on Friday, helped by foreign fund inflows and hopes of US Fed rate cuts. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 261.58 points to 83,206.08 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 76.7 points to 25,508.60. However, soon both the benchmark indices recovered their early lost ground and were trading higher. WHO (Community Oriented Programme for Control of Rheumatic Diseases) had presents findings from the largest-ever multi-site community survey covering more than 56,000 people across rural and urban India, which shows 195.29 million Indians or one in six suffer from arthritis-related pains, with women accounting for nearly two-thirds of the total burden. The study was recently published in the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases (Mar 2025 online). As per the research, arthritis pains emerged as the most common self-reported illness in Indian communities, surpassing diabetes and hypertension. Stock markets surge for 2nd day, Sensex jumps 862 points tracking rally in global peers

Mumbai, Oct 16 (PTI) Benchmark BSE Sensex jumped by 862.23 points while Nifty closed near the 25,600 mark on Thursday, following across-the-board buying by investors triggered by a global stocks rally and US Fed rate cut hopes. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 862.23 points or 1.04 per cent to settle at 83,467.66 with 28 of its constituents ending higher and two with losses. During the day, it zoomed 1,010.05 points or 1.22 per cent to 83,615.48. The 50-share NSE Nifty surged 261.75 points or 1.03 per cent to 25,585.30.
