Sensex, Nifty slip amid profit-taking, weak Asian markets

Mumbai, Oct 28 (PTI) Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday amid profit-taking and weak trends in Asian markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 150.68 points or 0.18 per cent to settle at 84,628.16. During the day, it fell by 559.45 points or 0.65 per cent to 84,219.39. Cabinet approves Terms of Reference of 8th Pay Commission; likely to come into effect from Jan 2026

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th Pay Commission, which is likely to be implemented from January 1, 2026. The recommendations of the pay panel will benefit about 50 lakh central government employees and 69 lakh pensioners. The commission will comprise of one chairperson; one member (part time) and one member-secretary. It will make its recommendations within 18 months of the date of its constitution.
