New Delhi, Nov 18 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday raised questions over the SIR process at a meeting with key AICC office-bearers of 12 states and Union Territories where the revision of electoral rolls is underway, and said the party must fight this politically, organisationally and legally, sources said. New Delhi, Nov 18 (PTI) Gold prices plunged by Rs 3,900 to Rs 1,25,800 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday, tracking a decline in global rates amid fading expectations of an interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve next month. The precious metal of 99.5 per cent purity tanked by Rs 3,900 to Rs 1,25,200 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes), according to the All India Sarafa Association. Mumbai, Nov 18 (PTI) In a range-bound trade, the rupee settled 2 paise lower at 88.61 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday in line with negative sentiment in equity markets. The emergence of foreign fund inflows, a weak greenback and lower crude oil prices helped the Indian currency resist downward pressure, traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 88.67 and moved in a tight range of 88.69 and 88.58 against the dollar. Mumbai, Nov 18 (PTI) Snapping the six-day winning streak, benchmark Sensex dropped by nearly 278 points and the Nifty closed below the 26,000-mark due to profit-taking in IT, metal and capital goods shares amid a weak trend in global markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined by 277.93 points or 0.33 per cent to settle at 84,673.02. During the day, it dropped 392.59 points or 0.46 per cent to 84,558.36. The 50-share NSE Nifty dipped 103.40 points or 0.40 per cent to 25,910.05.
