Silver, gold rise as geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia keeps bullion in focus

New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) Silver prices rose Rs 700 to Rs 2.58 lakh per kilogram in the national capital on Tuesday, while gold also edged higher amid geopolitical uncertainty and mixed global cues. According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9 per cent purity gained Rs 300 to Rs 1,57,300 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes). Gold prices saw a slight uptick in the domestic markets as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, prompting investors to seek safe-haven assets, Gaurav Garg, Research Analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk, said. However, global trends remained weak.

ISLAMABAD, April 21, 2026 (AP) – Two regional officials tell The Associated Press that the United States and Iran are signaling they will hold a new round of ceasefire talks in Islamabad as a fragile two-week truce was due to expire. Pakistan-led mediators received confirmation that the top negotiators will arrive in Islamabad early Wednesday. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters. Pakistan is preparing for a new round of talks even after U.S. President Donald Trump appeared to throw cold water on hopes for reaching an agreement to end the war.
